Join the TRSC section for this educational workshop on adaptive sports presented by Craig Hospital! The 0.3 CEU opportunity will be broken down into 3, 1 hour topics.
"Just the Basics: How to safely include participants with SCI and BI into your sports programing." Presented by Emily Aldridge, CTRS and Mara Salas, CTRS
This session will provide an overview of how to include people with TBI and SCI in sports. Safety considerations of TBI and SCI including health considerations, safe transfers as well as specific trainings/knowledge needed for success with these populations.
"We can’t do it alone: How to create strong community partnerships and execute successful programing in the adaptive sports community." Presented by Brayson Pope, MS CTRS and Kelly Secor, CTRS
This session will provide a description of Craig’s Adventure program, with an emphasis on positive outcomes and the importance of community partners. This session will include a demo on adaptive equipment used in our adventure programs such as bicycles and paddling equipment.
"Spinning our Wheels: An introduction to a variety for sports wheelchairs, pieces, parts and basic fitting." Presented by Tom Carr, CTRS and Jess Markt
This session will focus on specifically on sport wheelchairs that participants may encounter at their facilities. The focus will be on the parts, basic maintenance and repair, along with the basics of fitting and use. There will be a large experiential component of this session.
Pricing = $35/members; $45/non-members
