Topic Title:  Working with Guests Experiencing Homelessness in Your Facility

Description:  Working in a public service industry can cause some hardships when working with people who may be using your facility inappropriately. This presentation will explore communication techniques with people who are experiencing homelessness. We will discuss how to balance customer service with boundary setting and safety considerations.

Presenter Bio:  Jessica Hulse is a licensed social worker who manages the Crisis Response Unit for the City of Northglenn. Jessica works closely with populations experiencing homelessness on their path to stability. She also works through a police department and understands the necessity of safety. Previously Jessica has worked in a youth homeless shelter. Jessica believes in a balanced approach to working with vulnerable and unhoused individuals where defining and maintaining strong boundaries that are built on compassion and safety work to keep employees feeling comfortable and successful in their work environments.
