Description

The Directors Section is hitting the Western Slope for their summer educational event! On Friday, July 26th, they will meet in the Community Room at the Montrose Police Department for two education sessions with Chris Nunes, CPRE - Lead consultant/trainer for Broken Compass and Chief Operating Officer of The Woodlands Township in Texas. Each session is worth 0.1 CEUs. Lunch is included in the in-person registration

Can't make it in person? There is a registration option to join the two sessions virtually. A link to join Zoom will be sent to registrants the week of the event.

While in-person attendance and live virtual attendance is encouraged, every attendee (virtual and in-person) will receive the recording links to both sessions following the event.

The two sessions that Chris Nunes will be leading are "How to Think Big in Parks & Recreation" and "Changing Your Culture One Step at a Time."

"How to Think Big in Parks & Recreation" description -

  • Unlock the limitless potential of parks and recreation with "How to Think Big in Parks and Recreation." This dynamic session inspires a transformative mindset, equipping professionals to envision and execute bold, innovative projects, programs and services. Explore strategies to identify and seize opportunities, leverage resources effectively, and engage the community in ambitious initiatives.

"Changing Your Culture One Step at a Time" description -

  • Increasingly, Park and Recreation organizations are seeking to understand, develop and cultivate an organizational culture. Culture can be defined as an approach to service, management and leadership which effects how residents are appreciated or viewed.  This session will address how to develop a culture, the pitfalls and benefits of embracing a culture of service and how a culture can assist in creating new opportunities that will increase the effectiveness of delivering essential Park and Recreation services.

Friday's event will also include a tour of Montrose, its recreation district, and its facilities. Facilities include 5 parks, a section of the Connect Riverfront Trail, Community Recreation Center, Field House, Senior Center at Montrose Pavilion, and Flex Rec (the newest, smallest, leased space).

Thank you to Design Concepts for sponsoring this event!
