Description

10th Annual PHPR Collaborative Summit

The Joy of Togetherness: Sowing the Seeds for Socially Connected Communities

Friday, February 23rd, 2024

(Networking & happy hour to follow)

Location: Northglenn Recreation Center, 1 East Memorial Parkway, Northglenn, CO, 80233

In a world where the digital age has, in many ways, disconnected us, the pervasive feelings of loneliness and isolation have become a growing concern. In May 2023 the Surgeon General’s advisory declared that loneliness and isolation have become an epidemic. Our overall health as individuals and communities has taken a hit from this epidemic. We are spending less time with our friends and feel disconnected from our communities. We’ve seen increased chronic illness, dementia, depression, anxiety, and suicide attempts. The PHPR Summit aims to shine a light on the challenges of loneliness, isolation, and the remarkable benefits of nurturing socially connected communities.  Increased social connection is a significant predictor of longevity, better physical, cognitive, and mental health. Social connection can positively influence educational attainment, workplace satisfaction, economic prosperity and an overall feeling of well-being and life fulfillment. And we’re the people to make it happen!

Why Attend? At the PHPR Summit we will explore the multifaceted issue of loneliness and isolation and unveil the profound advantages of fostering socially connected communities. This event will feature sessions and activities connected to: Understanding Loneliness, Fostering Genuine Connections, Community Building, The Ripple Effect, Overcoming Barriers, and Inspiring Stories

Who Should Attend? This multi-sector event is designed for professionals, practitioners and community leaders who believe in the transformative power of human connection and want to take an active role in addressing the issues of loneliness and isolation. We encourage folks from public health, built environment, parks, recreation, healthcare, community organizations, education, libraries, community advocates, health related non-profits and commercial entities invested in their communities to attend.
