Join the Fitness Section for the first or two Fitness in the Rockies events of 2024! The spring workshop will take place on Friday, April 19th at the Berthoud Recreation Center.
Fitness In the Rockies will host one workshop session for this event. 2 CEU's will be provided through AFAA.
Session: "Training for Resiliency: Mobility & Recovery using Progressions/Regressions for Populations age 40-90" with speaker Maureen Hart, ACSM Exercise Physiologist, AFAA Group Fitness, Apex Park and Recreation District.
Session Description:
Resiliency is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to challenging life experiences. This is specifically through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility, in addition to adjustments to external/internal demands. It is the balance between toughness and elasticity, which is the platform on which healthy aging is built. U.S. Census data projects that by 2030, 1 out of 5 Americans will be over 65, while data from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, predicts that half of the adult U.S. population will exhibit obesity. The fitness industry can address these concerns by focusing on training people to be non-sedentary. Non-sedentary lifestyles require stamina, stability and functional mobility, and strength necessary to promote independence, while enhancing quality of life. This workshop will focus on program development that is designed to improve these components using the broad term of “training for resiliency.”
